Milkshakes are something I rarely indulged in before I began eating whole foods. I loved them, but I knew how unhealthy they were and there were extremely expensive. I have followed the Trim Healthy Mama healthy weight and wellness lifestyle for almost four years. (You can read about some of my journey and see progress picture here.) Now I have shakes all of the time now without the expense or the guilt!
One of my very favorites is this delicious turtle cheesecake shake. It is low carb, sugar free, and gluten free, but it is not free of flavor!
Turtle Cheesecake Shake – THM S
1/2 ounce to 1 ounce Lily’s sugar free, all natural chocolate chips
2 tbsp chopped pecans
1/2 cup grassfed cottage cheese (don’t worry if you don’t like cottage cheese, because it will be pureed)
1/2 ounce grassfed cream cheese
1/2-2 cups of ice (depending on how much ice you like)
1 cup unsweetened original organic almond milk or organic coconut milk (not shelf stable, but refrigerated)
2 tbsp grassfed heavy whipping cream
1/2 tsp vanilla pure extract
1/8 tsp caramel extract
1/8 tsp butter extract
3-4 tsp of organic all natural pyure stevia and erythritol blend
1 doonk of stevia extract
Chop chocolate chips and pecans until they are small enough to fit through a straw and reserve. Put remaining ingredients into blender and blend until smooth. Fold chopped chocolate and pecans into mixture, reserving a few for garnish if you wish. Once you’ve poured it into a glass jar, garnish the top with chopped chocolate and nuts. Enjoy!
